Carolyn Shaw

Growing up in Canmore, Carolyn’s approach to both life and her yoga practice has been highly influenced by her respect and love for the outdoors. Her background in dance, downhill ski racing and psychology has helped develop her interest in the connection of mind, body and movement. A long time practitioner she finds yoga the perfect practice for mediating stress, strengthening the body and cultivating the mind. Originally a dedicated Ashtanga student, she has expanded her practice and teaching to include a variety of different styles. Recently completing her 500 hr YTT in the Modern Teacher Training program, she enjoys exploring ways to cultivate a sustainable practice for the modern day yogi; balanced with variety, fun and tradition. Her teaching style is playful with focus on alignment. Her classes are lively, accessible to all levels, and usually peppered with optional arm balances, inversions, breath work and music. She incorporates traditional teachings with modern knowledge of body movement. She invites her students to challenge and explore themselves both mentally and physically and encourages curiosity and spontaneity throughout practice.

Jess Simson

From New Zealand, Jess has been practicing yoga for over 10 years. The more she learns about the practices the more she realizes their importance and the necessity of taking regular time out to relax – not only for boosting performance on the trails & in the office, but for amplifying life with more mental & physical health. To complement active & busy lifestyles, Jess teaches chill classes that draw from Qigong, Restorative & Yin Yoga. Endeavouring to help increase body & mind self awareness, Jess guides students towards achieving a certain function within the different exercises & poses, not a certain look.  She considers ones flexibility irrelevant to the depths in which they can gain within yoga.  Outside of yoga, Jess enjoys eating delicious nutritious food, being in the outdoors & running her own Holistic Performance & Stress Management Coaching business called Stoked Life.
